FROM THE ABSTRACT FORM
“From the Abstract Form” is a group of works and series carried out recently. It was born with the aim to include different works in the same context, even though in some cases its inclusion is an artifice. “From the Abstract Form” brings together works in different media and different techniques, following chronological and stylistic parameters.
The exercise of selecting different works is always a defining task that gives unexpected meanings to a career, and whose result will be part of the work itself. In this sense, some works have acquired new meanings, while the meaning of others has been modified: some works have been retouched, crossed out, erased or destroyed, and other works have been born, sometimes from the disappearance of the previous one.
An example of all this is the subseries Exili (“Exile”), carried out in canvas and papers where there were old portraits. Thus, the exile appears, the exile of the old work that does not exist anymore, as it has been covered by the new one. The result is a series of works that represent the white mark left by a painting that has been taken down after long time in the wall. This series echoes different concerns, such as the denial of the heritage or the artistic banishment.
